About us

Norwich Theatre is a leading arts organisation in the UK and the largest in the East of England, presenting a vibrant programme of live performance and creative engagement activities to entertain, enrich and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

We are a creative force and culture hub at the heart of Norwich and Norfolk, working with local, national and international partners to create and share extraordinary theatre experiences.

We always aim to broaden our creative experiences, increase our impact, and better represent the communities, artists and audiences with whom we work.

We believe creative experiences are for everyone. Whether we are working with schools, families, refugees or in communities, we witness every day that creativity changes lives.

We are a charity and receive no regular revenue funding from any public sources, generating all of our own income through tickets sales, commercial activities and fundraising.

Creative Assembly

Creative Assembly is a collaborative initiative launched last year by Norwich Theatre to bring diverse voices into the heart of its decision-making and creative processes.

It is designed to foster deeper connections with communities across Norfolk and to ensure that Norwich Theatre reflects and serves a broad range of perspectives and experiences.

The Creative Assembly is made up of five distinct groups, each with a specific focus:

Theatre Disruptors – Challenge and bring fresh ideas to influence the theatre’s direction.

Community Connectors – Engage local communities and share opportunities at a grassroots level.

Young Cultural Leaders – Empower 18–30-year-olds to develop leadership skills and contribute youth perspectives.

Creative Advisory Group – Involve local freelance creatives in strategic decisions.

Associate Company – An independent performing arts company embedded within the theatre to foster collaboration and innovation.

It is part of a broader effort to make Norwich Theatre more inclusive, responsive, and community-driven.

“I am excited to be part of the conversation that has the potential to increase human connection and community with Norwich Theatre. As a disruptor, I feel it is important to raise questions and challenge the status quo. My aim is to inspire equality, inclusion, and champion the ability of theatre to bring people together and change lives.”

Kindness Through Creativity

To celebrate Creative Matters: Kindness through Creativity, Norwich Theatre has released a series of short videos from its Take Part groups, including Theatre Cares – A Life in Music, Boys Movement Company, and Freedom of Movement.

Using creative mediums such as songwriting, singing, dancing, and physical theatre, each group created its own performance piece inspired by the theme of kindness and its own interpretation of what kindness means.
